Important Information from the PSAA Board Meetings

State Target Outdoor Shoot

A resolution from the North East Region was brought to the board to eliminate the 80-yard distance on Saturday and make the shoot two days, each worth 900 points.  This resolution was denied.

A proposal was brought to the board regarding the format of the State Target round.  The proposal is to shoot 5 arrows at a time instead of 3 and rotate.  This would be uniform for all of the distances including the shortest distances on both days.  This will help the rounds finish earlier each day.  This proposal will be voted on at the March Board of Delegates meeting using a majority rule.  If this proposal is passed, it will take effect this year at the Target Championship.

STS Anti-shock suppressor in Bowhunter Division

The board of delegates approved the use of a string stop or cable stop systems in all divisions.  This will be reflected in the rulebook.

Drawing Your Bow Properly

The board has approved a rule governing the drawing of a bow.  The rule states, “In the process of drawing a bow, with or without an arrow, it must always remain in a position no higher then the top of the target butt or wind flag.”  This rule will be reflected in the rulebook and will be policed at all PSAA sanctioned shoots.

3-D Rules

The 3-D rules will be located in the yearbook starting in 2008.  This year they may also be found in the back of the newsletter with the 3-D State Championship Information.

Outdoor Youth Teams

It was decided at the board of delegates meeting that to compete on a team, “All team members must shoot the same distances as per the rulebook.  Youth outdoor rounds require all team shooters to shoot the same distances, AA distances, as per the team division rules”

Classification

There are some changes to the classification procedures for the upcoming year.  There are no long classification books.  The temporary classcard and change of information card have been combined into one form.  This form will be red in color.  These forms will be sent out in the club packets and are to be used solely by the club for these purposes.  Please be sure to mark the correct box pertaining to change of information, new member, or replacement card so the office can process the form quickly.  There is a temporary classcard at the bottom of the card that is to be torn off and given to the person requesting the card.  If a member has a classcard and is getting classified in another division or round they would submit this form as a change of information and the proper class should be marked on the classcard they already have.  The only fee involved in the classification process is a $1.00 fee for a replacement card.  There are no longer any charges for a temporary card.  All new members and youth members moving to adult division receive their classification card free.

New classification cards (blue-adult & purple-youth) were issued during the 2007 tournament season.  If you did not receive a new card, please bring your old card to the registration areas at the up coming State tournaments.  Any questions regarding classification please contact the PSAA office.

Leaving the Course During a Tournament

If you would have a problem on the archery course during a tournament you must report to the registration area and make the tournament director aware of the problem.  The director will advise you of your options and determine if and when you may complete the tournament.
