The Pennsylvania Field and Target Archers (PFATA) indoor state championship for 2008 will be held at two locations. The two locations are: York & Adams Archers in Abbottstown and Charleroi Archery Club in Charleroi. York & Adams Archers is in the eastern portion of Pennsylvania and Charleroi Archery Club is in the western portion of Pennsylvania. When possible, the PFATA indoor state championship will return to the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. These two locations were chosen following a study as to where most of PFATA’s members reside.
February 16 & 17 are the dates for PFATA’s indoor state championship at both locations. Times, directions and other pertinent information will be on the tournament application.
The date and location of the PFATA outdoor state championship has been decided. The tournament’s date is July19, and will be held a Mechanicsburg Archers. That is the same day as the PSAA state field and hunter 2-day championship.
It was decided at the PFATA general membership meeting in August that we would try to hold the tournament in conjunction with the PSAA state outdoor championship to accommodate the shooters who would want to shoot both tournaments but could only travel on one weekend. By combining tournaments, we are hoping this will encourage more shooters to participate in both tournaments.
The PSAA state field championship will be shot over a 2-day period, July 19th and 20th using PSAA rules. The PFATA state championship will be a one-day event on July 19th using NFAA rules. There will be official registration forms and entry fees for each tournament. PSAA members, who are PFATA members, can register to participate in both events. Their Saturday score will be their official PFATA score.
To participate in the PFATA state championship round only, for archers who are not PSAA members, archers must be a PFATA member plus either a NFAA or NAA member. PFATA champions will be announced following the Saturday round of a 28- target field round (no hunter targets will be shot). PFATA will use separate scorecards, which will be handed out Saturday morning. A separate scoreboard will also be used for our shoot. PFATA awards will follow Saturday’s scoring if possible.
